Communities in Schools
The CIS-ACE After-School Program (Communities In Schools After-school Centers on Education) is a free program to all qualifying participants that offers an opportunity for students to receive: homework assistance, academic enrichment lessons, and enrichment activities such as:
- Homework assistance and Tutorial services to help children meet state and local academic achievement standards in core subjects of reading, mathematics, science, and social studies.
- A broad array of enrichment activities including: youth development, fine arts & craft, technology, physical education, social-emotional learning, health & wellness, and nutrition programs, as well as extended educational programs that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program. Our CIS-ACE program instills curiosity and excites learners to become even more resourceful so that they will continue to learn outside the normal school day.
- Offering families of students served by CIS-ACE opportunities for literacy, parenting, and related development programs; exposure to civic and community service projects; and an opportunity to participate in their children’s academic and social development.
Interested Parents/ guardians/ families must complete an ACE Letter Of Interest to be considered; Students with academic, behavior, or attendance needs will be given the highest priority for enrollment in the program; ACE works with LPE staff and administrators for student recruitment and recommendations. ACE is available to LPE students in grades 1st - 5th. Space is limited; Students & families interested in participating will be placed on a wait list until space becomes available and contacted by the site coordinator.
